Braver Angels: Bringing People Together Across Political Differences

Braver Angels of Houston helps people from different political backgrounds have respectful conversations about important issues. Instead of fighting or avoiding each other, conservatives and liberals come together to listen, learn, and work on solutions to community problems. The group offers many free activities including workshops where people practice having civil discussions, debates where different viewpoints are shared respectfully, book talks about important topics, and speaking events.

They also hold alliance meetings where community leaders work together and offer one-on-one conversations for people who want to practice bridging differences. The organization teaches people skills for depolarization - which means reducing the angry divide between political groups - and shows how to have productive conversations even when people disagree. Their goal is to help citizens move past harmful stereotypes and find common ground on real issues that affect their communities.
