NYC Foundation Funds Groups Fighting for Justice and Rights

The New York Foundation supports local groups fighting to protect people's rights in New York City. The foundation's president explains that while attacks on rights are happening across the country, community organizing at the local level is where real change happens. They recently gave grants to five new groups: Adhikaar helps Nepali-speaking workers and families; CAIR-NY protects Muslim Americans' rights; New York Transgender Advocacy Group fights for LGBTQ+ policies; Rockaway Neighbors helps public housing residents; and Street Vendor Project supports street vendors. The foundation also continues funding 15 other groups working on issues like police reform, housing, and youth power. They welcomed six new board members who share their values of racial, economic, gender, and climate justice. The foundation believes that by supporting grassroots organizing groups, they help build stronger communities block by block. These local movements protect what matters most and create positive change even during difficult times.
