The Health Foundation of South Florida works to fix health problems that hurt people of color more than white people. They know that where you live affects your health more than almost anything else - even your zip code can predict how long you'll live. The foundation says racism and unfair treatment over many years created these health gaps. Black people and other minorities get sicker and die more often from things like diabetes, heart disease, and COVID-19. Even having more money or education doesn't always protect people of color from these health problems because of ongoing racism. The foundation puts racial equity at the center of all their work. They try to change the systems that cause these unfair health outcomes. They also ask their partners to do the same. The foundation runs programs like the Black Health Summit and works with communities to address these deep-rooted problems. They believe that fighting racism is the same as fighting for better health for everyone.
