About this service

A special home buying program for first responders, veterans, and school workers in Montgomery County. This program helps heroes like police officers, firefighters, teachers, and military veterans buy affordable homes in safe neighborhoods. Unlike regular Habitat programs, you get your own loan and have fewer volunteer hour requirements. You must make less than certain income limits based on your family size and complete a home buyer class. Current homes are available in the Cedar Creek community in Conroe.

Currently employed or retired first-responders, military veterans, or school employees; household income not exceeding 120% AMI based on family size; able to obtain financing; must complete HUD-approved Homebuyer Education Course

Home Repair ProgramHabitat for Humanity helps homeowners fix their homes at prices they can afford. They use licensed repair professionals and volunteers to do the work. Homeowners with low incomes may get repairs for free. The program helps with critical home repairs that families need. You can apply online by filling out a form, then having an interview, and submitting documents. They will contact you within 5-7 business days after you apply.

Deconstruction ProgramThis program helps take apart old buildings in a careful way to save materials that can be reused. The program is still being built and is not ready yet. Right now, you can contact them to learn more about when it will start. This helps the environment by keeping building materials out of landfills and gives people cheaper materials to build with.

ReStore Thrift ShopA thrift store that sells donated home goods, furniture, appliances, and building materials at low prices. You can shop in the store or online through eBay. They have a rewards program where you earn points for discounts. Senior citizens and first responders get 10% off Tuesday through Friday. All sales help Habitat for Humanity build homes for families in need.
