Listening and conversation skills help people connect across differences. Stronger relationships between people who think differently build healthier communities and democracy.
Civity works with other organizations to help them build stronger relationships in their communities. They partner with groups working on issues like climate change, racial justice, and democracy to teach them how to connect people better. This helps create communities where everyone feels they belong and matter. Organizations can learn how to build trust and work together more effectively.
Civity offers training workshops to help people connect better with others who are different from them. These trainings teach skills like having real conversations, sharing personal stories, and building relationships across differences. They offer both in-person and online workshops that can last from a few hours to half a day, or be a series of meetings. After the workshop, they provide ongoing support through phone calls, video chats, and email to help you practice what you learned. Some workshops are open to everyone, and they also create special trainings for organizations with specific needs.
Perhaps all the dragons in our lives are princesses who are only waiting to see us act, just once, with beauty and courage. Perhaps everything that frightens us is, in its deepest essence, something helpless that wants our love.
